A handwritten letter from Manchester United’s Bobby Charlton to Molly Leech Fiancée of Duncan Edwards dated 17th February 1958,complete with original envelope postmarked Ashington, Northumberland, Bobby explaining to Molly that he had a good journey home, that he had not heard anything about Duncan and telling Molly how much he wants him “up and about”, Charlton further explaining that trainer Jimmy Murphy had told him to go straight home and that he had been receiving a lot of visitors and well wishers, the letter further emphasising how “everyone up home wants Duncan to get better so will him so”, Bobby signing off “yours always, keep your chin up Molly, Bobby xx”, two-pages of lined paper, in black ink.

A signed typescript letter from Rudolf Dassler founder of Puma sportswear to Duncan Edwards of Manchester United and England footballer, dated 17th February 1958, on Puma letterhead, signed ppa by son Armin A. Dassler on behalf of his father ‘Rudi’ and wishing Duncan and his friends a quick recovery and happy return to their country, further stating “lets us hope and pray that you will soon regain your good condition. Please take some flowers as a sign of our hearty feelings towards you.” complete with original envelope, this having been sent to the Krankenhaur hospital, rechts der Isar, Munich following the Munich air crash where Duncan was admitted and later passed away due to his injuries.

A group of five newspapers and magazines originally kept as souvenirs by Duncan Edwards of Manchester United and England,comprising Spanish newspaper La Gaceta Del Norte 15th January 1957, Bieno 15th January 1957, German Kicker magazine May 1956, Belfast Telegraph 6th October 1956 and Manchester Evening News 1957 FA Cup final Wembley souvenir edition, all featuring matches in which Duncan Edwards played, all fair condition for age.

Incredibly rare item from Duncan Edwards former Manchester United player who tragically died in the Munich air disaster in 1958

Duncan Edwards’ overnight bag taken to Belgrade for the European Cup tie 2nd Leg v Red Star 5th February 1958,green canvas and brown leather holdall, with name tag (blank), bears wear and splits Duncan Edwards’ fiancée Molly Leech flew to Munich at the earliest opportunity to be with Duncan while he was being treated for his injuries at the Rechts der Isar Hospital. Tragically Duncan died 15 days after the Air Disaster. It became one of Molly’s responsibilities to retrieve Duncan’s personal effects from the authorities, this included the overnight bag he had taken for the travel to the Red Star match in Belgrade.

Two handwritten letters from Duncan Edwards of Manchester United and England to his fiancée Molly Leech and relating to his time of National Service, both on hotel notepaper in blue ink, with original envelopes addressed to Miss M Leech, 32 Manly Road, Sale, postmarked 2nd & 29th November 1955, one letter commencing Dear Molly and the other Dear Pet, subjects relating to a film Duncan had seen and the other about arriving in London to play Chelsea; sold together with an invitation to Duncan and Molly to attend a wedding reception, 28th January 1956 complete with original envelope, (6)Although National Service was compulsory at this time, Edwards was allowed leave to play in football matches.
