Regarded as one of the best players in the world Yamal was a member of the youth academy, La Masia, before breaking into the Barcelona first team squad in the 2023–24 season. He became the youngest player to be nominated for the Ballon d'Or (at age 17) and also won the Kopa Trophy in 2024 and 2025, presented to the best young player in the world.
