Sergio is regarded as one of the best players to ever play for the club if not the greatest having played for the Manchester club for the last ten years winning a number of trophies and titles including scoring the winner against Queens Park Rangers which secured Manchester City their first ever Premier League trophy , he is also the clubs all time leading goal scorer and the Premier Leagues all time non English top goal scorer with 181 goals to date.
Agüero began his career at the Argentine Independiente. On 5 July 2003, he became the youngest player to play in the Argentine Primera División on his debut at 15 years and 35 days, breaking the record previously set by Diego Maradona in 1976. In 2006, Agüero moved to La Liga club Atlético Madrid in a transfer worth €23 million. During his years at Madrid, he established himself as one of the best young players in Europe and won the Don Balón, Tuttosport Golden Boy, and the World Soccer Young Player of the Year. Agüero scored 101 goals in 234 appearances for Atlético, while winning the UEFA Europa League and the UEFA Super Cup.
Agüero moved to Premier League club Manchester City in July 2011 for a reported fee in the region of £35 million. On the last day of his debut season in Manchester, he scored a last minute winner to win the club its first league title in 44 years. In the 2014–15 season, he won the Premier League Golden Boot, and became Manchester City’s all-time top goalscorer in November 2017. He was also named to the PFA Team of the Year in the 2017–18 and 2018–19 seasons. He is the fourth all-time Premier League goalscorer, and the highest non-English scorer, in the competition’s history, with 181 goals. Agüero also holds the record for most hat-tricks in the Premier League, with twelve.
At the international level, Agüero represented the Argentina under-20 team at the 2005 and 2007 FIFA U-20 World Cup, winning both tournaments. He played at the 2008 Olympics, scoring two goals in the semi-final against Brazil as Argentina won gold. Agüero represented the senior team at three FIFA World Cups – in 2010, 2014, and 2018 – and four Copa Américas – in 2011, 2015, in 2017, and 2019. He reached the final of the 2014 World Cup, and the final of the 2015 and 2017 Copa Américas.
