As shirts go this is up there with the best of them , the Legend that is Billy Mcneill Celtic legend and club captain’s match worn shirt from the European Cup semi final second leg v Leeds United at Hampden Park on the 15th of April 1970 in front of a record European match crowd of 136,505 although some say it was much much more inc Celtic player Evan Williams “they say the crowd was 136,505, but it wasnae, it was 200,000” .
Known as the battle of Britain the match finished 2-1 to Celtic where they went on to play Feyenoord of the Netherlands in the European Cup final in Milan at the San Siro on the 6th of May 1970
Billy will go down as one of the clubs greatest ever players if not the greatest having captained and led the team to European Cup victory in 1967 the clubs greatest ever achievement and first time a British club has ever done so .
The Shirt was swapped after the match with Leeds United player Mick Jones and comes with a signed letter from Mick confirming this and this was the shirt he exchanged with Billy after the game.
Shirt remains in good condition despite its age and signs of wear and use are still visible throughout.
